Harry M. Steimle
Harry M. Steimle, 86, of Central City, died Tuesday, January 4, 2011, at Litzenberg Memorial County Hospital in Central City. Memorial church services will be Sunday, January 9, 2011, at 9:00 at Grace Lutheran Church in Central City, with Sister Mary Arie officiating. There will be no visitation. Burial will be at a later date. Wagner Funeral Home in Central City is assisting family with the arrangements.
Harry was born on January 26, 1924, in Omaha, Nebraska to Christopher and Anna Steimle. He grew up in the Omaha area and received his education there.
He entered the United States Navy on December 1, 1942, and was honorably discharged on May 29, 1945.
He was united in marriage to Elinor Zimmerle on June 23, 1945 in Omaha. The couple lived in Omaha and Harry worked at Roberts Dairy until his retirement. Elinor died on Good Friday, 1979. In 1980, he married Elvera (Bankson) Reeves in Central City. They moved to Aurora and bought Chuck’s Drive Inn. Then they moved to Central City where Harry worked for Solt Funeral Home, Wendy’s, Cornerstone Bank, and Walmart.
Harry was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Central City, and American Legion Lone Tree Post #6. He enjoyed collecting old coins, including foreign money. He also liked Saturday night pitch games at the Senior Center, and dancing. He was a devoted husband, loving father, and good friend to the people in his life.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Roger and Whitney Steimle of Concrete, WA, three daughters and two sons-in-law, Rene and Jim Hoskins of Thomaston, GA; Robbie Gerlach of Central City, NE; and Roslyn and Lou Pappas of Colorado Springs, CO, five grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren, and special friend and caretaker, Carlene Brondel.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Elinor Steimle, and a brother, Clifford Steimle, and two sons-in-law, Bob Able, and David Hasty.
