Flora Pearl Sherwood
Flora Pearl Sherwood, 95, of Greeley, Colorado, died Monday, May 23, 2011 at Garden Square in Greely, CO. Funeral services will be Saturday, May 28, 2011 at 1:00 P.M. at Salem Lutheran Church in Stromsburg, Nebraska. Pastor Brenda Pfeifly will officiate. Burial will be in the Stromsburg Cemetery. There will be no visitation. Wagner Funeral Home in Central City is assisting the family with arrangements.
Flora was born on February 22, 1916 in Arborville, NE to Charles and Jennie (Hurd) Bowers. She grew up in York and attended school there. She continued her education at York College.
She was united in marriage to Wallace Sherwood on August 28, 1933. The couple lived in Clarks, NE; Exira, IA; and Stromsburg, NE. Wally and Flora ran the Jack & Jill Grocery Store in Stromsburg. She also worked at the Bible Book Store in Stromsburg.
Flora was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Greeley, CO. While living in Stromsburg, she was chosen as the Swedish Festival Queen.
Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Donna and Beryl Willits of Greeley, CO; and Bonnie and Roland Wagner of Fullerton, CA, ten grandchildren, twenty great grandchildren, and five great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband Wallace Sherwood.
