Eldon L. Root

Eldon L. Root, 88, of Central City, died Thursday, October 27, 2011 at his home.  Funeral services will be Monday, October 31, 2011, at 10:00 A.M. at Heartland Evangelical Free Church in Central City with Reverend Scott Johnson officiating.  Burial will be at 3:30 P.M. on Monday, in the Brethren Cemetery near Holmesville, NE.  Visitation will be Sunday, October 30, from 5 to 7 P.M. at Wagner Funeral Home in Central City. 

Eldon was born on March 10, 1923 in Holmesville, NE to Fred L. and Ida M. (Falwell) Root.  He grew up and received his education in Holmesville. 

He was united in marriage to Mildred J. Forsyth on March 10, 1949 in Holmesville, NE.  Eldon farmed down by Beatrice most of his life.  In 1987, the couple moved to Central City, and Eldon helped Greg Senkbile on his farm. 

He was a member of Heartland Evangelical Free Church, and the Gideons. 

Survivors include his wife, Mildred Root of Central City, three sons and daughters-in-law, Fred and Marilyn Root of Holmesville, NE; William and Penny Root of Scotia, NE; and Jonathan and Diane Root of Central City, NE, two daughters and sons-in-law, Margaret and Angel Espada of Aibonito, P.R.; and Marlene and Dale Frimodt of Omaha, NE, eight grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Marion Root, and three sisters, Ruth Mack, Addie Jenkins, and Gertrude Root.
