Leonard
B. Biel, 65, of Central City, Nebraska, died Monday, May 30, 2011 at Litzenberg
Memorial County Hospital in Central City. Funeral services will be Friday, June
3, 2011 at 10:00 A.M. at Wagner Funeral Home in Central City, with Sister Mary
Arie officiating. Visitation will be Thursday, June 2, 2011, from 5 to 7 P.M.
at Wagner Funeral Home in Central City. Graveside services will be at Elkhorn
Cemetery near Omaha on June 6, 2011 at 11:30 A.M.
Leonard was born on April 21, 1946 in Omaha, Nebraska to Bernard L. and Mildred (Bartels) Biel. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Millard. He grew up in Gretna and graduated from Gretna High School in 1964. He continued his education at SCC in Milford, NE, with an associate’s degree in Diesel Mechanics.
Leonard was united in marriage to Linda K. Dyer on December 18, 1965 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Millard, NE. The couple lived in the Gretna area until 1970, when they moved to Merrick County. In 1971, they moved onto the family farmstead, where they live presently. Leonard was a self-employed farmer and worked for Merrick County Roads Department.
He enjoyed antique tractors, and tractor pulls. He was a member of Lone Tree Antique Tractor Club, and a past member of Nebraska Antique Tractor Pullers, and National Antique Tractor Pullers.
Survivors include his wife, Linda Biel, of Central City, NE, two daughters and sons-in-law, Michelle Biel-Guy (Steve) of Central City, NE, and Terri Rose (Jeff) of Blue Hill, NE, two grandsons, Dylan and Austin Rose at home in Blue Hill, NE, five step-grandchildren, Danny (Amy) Dexter-Guy, Becky Guy, Wayne Guy, Billie Guy, and Mary Guy, two sisters and a brother-in-law, Jacquelyn Mowinkel of Omaha NE, and Judith (Loren) Plambeck of Omaha, NE, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, infant brother, Ray Biel, sister, Jodeen Rix, and brothers-in-law, Will Rix and Edwin Mowinkel.
