Betty J. Darling

Betty J. Darling, 76, of Central City, died Thursday, October 27, 2011 at Litzenberg Memorial County Hospital in Central City.   Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, November 1, 2011, at 1:00 P.M. at Wagner Funeral Home in Central City.  The Reverend Paul Blanchard will officiate.  Burial will be at a later date.  Visitation will be Monday, October 31, from 5 to 7 P.M. at the funeral home. 

Betty was born on December 11, 1934 to Glen and Gladys (Bunn) Dawkins in Cedar Rapids, NE.  She was raised on a farm by Primrose and attended grade school at what she liked to call “The Little Red School House.”  She graduated from Albion High School.

Betty was united in marriage to Paul Darling on November 6, 1955 at Primrose First Presbyterian Church.  They started their married life by Akron, NE where they farmed and milked cows.  After two years they moved to the Fullerton area and farmed another year.  In 1959 Paul started work on bridge construction, which took them to many cities around the state.  In 1967, Paul and Betty moved to Central City and opened Darling Service, where Betty kept the books for the business until May of this year.

Betty loved people, animals, pecan pie, and she loved to laugh.  The couple enjoyed camping and square dancing.  Betty will be greatly missed by her family and friends. 

Survivors include her husband, Paul Darling of Central City, NE, a daughter, Cindy Darling of Valparaiso, NE, one grandson and his wife, Chad and Katrina Darling of Wahoo, NE, and three great-granddaughters, Grace, Addyson, and Hayleigh. 

She was preceded in death by her parents.
