Donald L. Rhodes

Donald L. Rhodes, 61, of Central City, Nebraska, died Monday, February 15, 2010, at his home. Memorial services will be Saturday, March 6 at 11:00 A.M. at Wagner Funeral Home in Central City. A luncheon will follow at the Eagles Club in Central City. There will be no visitation. Burial of ashes will be at a later date.

Donald was born on December 2, 1948, in Hastings, Nebraska to William Dale and Ruth Eva (Palmer) Rhodes. He grew up in the Giltner area and then Hastings, graduating from Hastings High School in 1967. He continued his education at Southeast Community College in Milford.

He was united in marriage to Kaye Swanstrom on December 14, 1968 in Seward. The couple lived in the Seward/Lincoln area until 1975. Shortly after, Don moved to Clarks, and Central City area. Donald drove truck for Roy Cheney out of Giltner, and Palmer Brothers. He was retired from driving due to his health.

Donald was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, and enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Survivors include his sons, Scott Rhodes and Gary Rhodes, both of Lincoln, NE, a daughter and son-in-law, Michelle and Brian Worster of Lincoln, NE, two grandchildren, one brother and sister-in-law, Gary and Lois Rhodes of Colorado Springs, CO, and two sisters and a brother-in-law, Dorothy Elliot of Lincoln, NE and Linda and Carl Osten of Lincoln, NE.

His parents preceded him in death.
