Hazel W. Ostrander
Hazel W. Ostrander, 100, died Tuesday, February 23, 2010 at Litzenberg Long
Term Care in Central City. Funeral services will be at 11 A.M. on Friday,
February 26, 2010 at Wagner Funeral Home in Central City with Reverend Paul
Blanchard officiating. Lunch will follow the service at the United Methodist
Church in Central City. Burial will be in the Clarks Cemetery at 1:30 P.M. on
Friday, February 26, 2010. There will be no visitation.
Hazel was born on July 2, 1909, in Butler County to Edward C. and Della (Smith)
Lawver. She grew up in Rising City and received her education in rural Butler
County School.
She was united in marriage to Fred C. Ostrander on August 6,1928 in Julesburg,
CO. The couple made their living farming, and had a place in Polk County. After
Fred died in 1973, Hazel moved to Central City.
Hazel enjoyed flowers and baking cookies.
Survivors include her sons, Wayne (Pat) Ostrander of Central City, NE, and Myron
(Barb) Ostrander of Aurora, NE, daughters, Doris (Julius) Schmid of Silver
Creek, NE, and Judy (Joe) Bohaboj of Clarkson, NE, seventeen grandchildren,
twenty-seven great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Fred Ostrander, three sisters,
Helen Van Meter, Mildred Schutt, and Irene Barlett, and two brothers, Earl
Lawver and Lewis Lawver.
