Viola M. Ohlman

Viola M. Ohlman, 99, died Monday, May 10, 2010 at Litzenberg Memorial County Hospital in Central City. Funeral services will be Friday, May 14, 2010 at 2:00 P.M. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Central City with Reverend Kevin McReynolds officiating. Visitation will be Thursday, May 13 from 5 to 7 P.M. at Wagner Funeral Home in Central City. Burial will be in the Central City Cemetery.
Viola was born on July 4, 1910 near Crookston, Nebraska to William and Minnie (Lade) Holtz. At the age of 4, her family moved to a farm North of Shelton, Nebraska. She received her early education at Zion Lutheran and rural schools. She graduated from Shelton High School and Kearney College. She taught at elementary schools in Buffalo, Merrick and Hamilton counties.
On June 5, 1932 she was united in marriage to Fred Ohlman at Zion Lutheran Church North of Shelton, Nebraska. They farmed in that area until 1945 when they moved to Central City, Nebraska and lived on various farms until moving to town in 1995.
Viola was active in the Lutheran Ladies Guild and taught Sunday School for many years. She was a leader of 4-H Club and Extension Club. She enjoyed crocheting, flowers, and gardening.
Survivors include three sons and a daughter-in-law – Don and Sandy Ohlman of Central City, NE; Bernie Ohlman of Central City, NE; and Jerry Ohlman of Walnut Creek, CA; three daughters and sons-in-law – Myrna and Quentin DuVall of Menifee, CA, Ruth and Bernard Karr of Surprise, AZ and Dorian and Leo Pfeifer of Surprise, AZ; eleven grandchildren, thirty great-grandchildren, and three great- great-grandchildren, two sisters –Dorothy Bredthauer of Arcadia, NE; and Bernadine Lange of Ord, NE, and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Fred Ohlman who died on May 10, 2005; an infant daughter, a grandson, Quentin DuVall, a daughter-in-law, Lorinda Ohlman, and sisters, Vera Lange, Lydia Stohs, Ella Bremer, and Imogene Holtz.
