Jerry L. Souhrada

Jerry L. Souhrada, 70, of Burwell, formerly of Central City, died at his home.  Funeral services will be Saturday, June 19, 2010 at 2:00 P.M. at Wagner Funeral Home in Central City.  Reverend David Busch will be officiating.  Burial will be in the Central City Cemetery.  Visitation will be at 1:00 P.M. just prior to the service. 

Jerry was born September 10, 1939, in Syracuse, NE to Edward and Ella (Dobry) Souhrada.  He grew up in Verdigre and graduated from Verdigre High School in 1957.  

He was united in marriage to Judy H. Bartling on May 6, 1961 in Creighton, NE.  The couple lived on a farm near Verdigre.  In 1970, they moved to Chapman, and three years later they moved to Central City. Jerry worked at the grain elevator in Chapman until 1978, then at Cargill in Central City, and the Aurora Co-op.  He retired in 2002, and moved to Burwell in 2005.   

Jerry loved to go fishing and hunting, camping and gardening.   

Jerry is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Frank and Kathleen Souhrada of Johnston, IA; and John and Donnine Souhrada of Keller, TX, a daughter and son-in-law, Julie and Jeff Voss of Bellevue, NE, seven grandchildren, and a brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Cindy Souhrada of Delta Junction, AK. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, and his wife Judy Souhrada on March 29, 1997.
