Lois L. Steger, 81, of Clarks, Nebraska died Monday, March 30, 2009 at St.
Francis Medical Center in Grand Island. Funeral services will be Thursday, April
2, 2009 at 10:00 A.M. at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Clarks with Father
Richard Whiting officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday, April 1, from 5 to 7
with a 7:00 P.M. Rosary at the church. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery in
David City at 2:00 P.M. Wagner Funeral Home of Central City and Clarks is in
charge of the arrangements.

Lois was born on June 4, 1927 to John J. and Clara M. (Langhorst) Steger in
Clarks, Nebraska. She lived most of her life in Clarks and attended Clarks
Public Schools, graduating in 1945. After graduation, Lois taught school at
District 7 for five years. She then attended Nebraska Central College and took
correspondent classes through the University of Nebraska at Lincoln.
Lois worked for William Douglas & Company for 15 years while going to school.
She then moved to Omaha, Nebraska and worked for J.C. Penney. She was head
manager of the lingerie department. Lois returned to Clarks in 1952 to teach at
District 61 and to help care for her mother. She also helped her brothers
Raymond and Leonard on the farm. She continued to teach at District 61 for three
years until taking the job as bookkeeper for Regan, Regan, & Hess for over 34
years.
Lois enjoyed the outdoors, cooking, baking, embroidering, and doing crafts. She
also loved to dance and read. One of Lois’s greatest joys was visiting with
family and friends.
Lois is survived by five nieces and two nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, four sisters, three brothers, one
nephew and one niece.
