Alice
Lorraine (Johnson) Carlson, 74, of Stromsburg, Nebraska, died Sunday, June
7, 2009 at her home. Graveside services will be Wednesday, June 10, 2009,
at 11:30 A.M. at Swede Plain Cemetery near Polk. Pastor Dick Bauer will
officiate. There will be no visitation. Wagner Funeral Home in Central
City is in charge of the arrangements.
Alice was born on July 31, 1934 in Osceola, NE to Clarence and Lillian (Ekstrom) Johnson. She grew up in rural Osceola and attended country school there. Alice graduated from Osceola Public High School in 1951.
She was united in marriage to Gordon A. Carlson on November 21, 1965 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Osceola. The couple lived on a farm near Polk. Alice was employed as deputy county treasurer, and then later was the administrative assistant at the Midwest Covenant Home in Stromsburg.
Alice was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Osceola, and Free Church Women’s Missions of Polk. She taught Sunday school for several years at St. Paul Lutheran Church and later at Swede Plain Methodist Church near Polk.
Survivors include her husband, Gordon A. Carlson of Stromsburg, NE, daughters and sons-in-law, Sheila and Larry Gulbrandson of Polk, NE; Twyla Carlson of Polk, NE; and Lisa and Mike Howell of Polk, NE, five grandchildren, Gordon Gulbrandson of Polk, NE; Alyse Carlson of Polk, NE; Gordona and Allie Howell of Polk, NE and Tanner Howell of Aurora, NE, a sister-in-law, Betsy Johnson of Osceola, NE, nieces and nephews, Rick and Susan Johnson, Ray and Kathy Johnson, Debbie and Johnny Green, Paula and Gene Luce, RaeJeanne and Joe Marsden, Alice Marie Cramer, Clayton and Gloria Nelson, and Karen and Charles Stroman, and many great nieces and nephews.
Her parents, Clarence and Lillian Johnson, and a brother, Alton Johnson, preceded her in death.
