Raymond L. Beal, 77, of Genoa, formerly of Central City, died Sunday, November 15, 2009, at Genoa Community Hospital. Memorial services will be held on Thursday, November 19, 2009 at 1:00 P.M. at Wagner Funeral Home in Central City with Reverend Bob Neben officiating. Burial will be in the Central City Cemetery.
Raymond was born December 1, 1931 in Genoa, Nebraska to Fred and Irene (Steele) Beal. He grew up in Genoa and attended school there. Raymond traveled with the rodeo until his mother became ill and he returned home to help her.
He was united in marriage to Mary J. McClay on October 14, 1962 in Central City. The couple lived in Central City. Raymond worked for Glade Tire and Redman Homes in Grand Island. He also attended school for refrigeration and heating and air conditioning, after which he started his own business. His wife Mary died in August of 2002.
He was a member of United Methodist Church in Central City. He enjoyed country music, trains, horses and collecting memorabilia and records. He also liked to camp and fish with his family. During retirement, Raymond repaired broken toys for the Thrift Shop in Central City.
Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, John and Diane Beal of Grand Island, NE; two daughters, Marcia Beal of Palmer, NE, and Debbie Beal of Grand Island, NE; six grandchildren, one great-grandchild, one brother, Les Beal of Genoa, NE; one sister, Shirley Weldon of Bellvue, NE; daughter-in-law, LeeAnn Terjak of Central City, NE; and a sister-in-law, Florence Zeta of Central City, NE.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Mary, and an infant son, Freddie Beal.
